For 2007...

In 2007 we will be trying more different things to see what our customers enjoy the most. We will again be selling Delaware chickens along with another breed that we have learned about from Julia at Cedar Meadow Farm in Ledyard.  We will also try pastured duck in 2007, these will be raised in the same manner as our chickens and turkeys, please see our special products order form and get your order in early.  Our duck will start it’s pricing at $7.50 per pound in 2007 and be subject to change as we figure out how much extra work they will be. 

You will pay for the delivered weight, whether it is for beef, pork, turkey, or chicken. We will put the product(s) on the scale right before it goes in the freezer. So you will pay for the weight of the meat after we have processed it.

A Note about Pick-up and Delivery

Last year, I was Market Master for the Denison Farm Market and I will do so again in '07. The farm market is where you can also pick up pre-ordered chicken. You have to order it a week in advance and then pick it up the following week, asit must be frozen to keep the consumer protection people happy. We have included the Farm Market Order Form in .pdf format for your use so you can fill one out and drop it off to us at the market.

A word of caution, our schedule is VERY tight and if you are scheduled to pick up something either at the Farmers Market or at the farm and do not do so within 24 hours, your product will be sold to someone else.

WE SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE THE FREEZER SPACE TO STORE YOUR PRODUCTS FOR YOU. Last year we had some people who couldn’t make their pickup times and not only lost their order but also their place in line for their next order.

Also, please note: if we are out of meat products you are interested in (as we are now out of many), please contact our friends at Studio Farm Products who sell similar products, and be sure to tell them we sent you!

Eggs

Eggs are $2.00 per 1/2 dozen and are available at the Denison Farm Market only.

Pork

We also now are processing our pork at a USDA certified facility so that means we can sell individual cuts of meat.  Each product is cryo-vac packed and labeled.  We will have at least 4 kinds of sausage, bacon, chops, English bangers and other cuts of meat.  Our Tamworth Hogs are available in three portions:

Pastured Poultry

When they are available, our pastured poultry are Cornish Cross chickens and Heritage Delaware chickens. Notice on our order form that it asks you if you want your product “dressed”. You are buying a live bird, and we will only prepare it for you if you want us to. Birds will cost about $20.00 each depending on the dressed weight, based on a price of:

$3.75 per pound for the Cornish Cross Heritage chicken

This may seem like an expensive chicken, but read about pastured chickens and you will understand why it is well worth every penny. (You can read more about this in our blog here.)

If all goes well we will have birds from June to November so plan to order ahead to last you during the months when we will not have a supply. 

Chickens may only be picked up at the Denison Farm Market.
